Well yesterday's fishing action was just slightly better than the day before with 33 fish landed. 10 of which were Salmon.

The morning started with an early session with our first double header for the year. A salmon and a grilse. Yes Andy, .... Steve and Paul are the high-liners and yes .... they had the double!

We were treated to a bit of Ceviche last night which was very tasty. Thank you very much to Dick for his gourmet talents!

The weather is damp and cold with intermittent showers and cooler temperatures. Water levels in the river seem to be holding for the time being.

I look forward to hearing the stories this evening when the anglers return for evening.

This weeks guests were a little late arriving due to weather. They were still able to catch 3 fish in their first session.

Today saw our largest number of fish hooked for the season with an impressive 31. Lots of nice grilse on the river now.

Wet weather in forecast. We are hoping for similar results tomorrow.

We are ready to say good-bye to our 2nd group for the year...More like a see you later as they are well known as repeat 'offenders'.

It was a great week with some great large fish action. We have lots of pictures, and of course there is 'the one that got away'. Our Norwegian guests and their guide swear that they lost a fish 30lb+. Nelson tried to tail it and could not get his hand around the tail, it ran and straightened out a #6 hook. We believe it...do you? the last couple of years now...

Fishing was good again today. Most were beautiful large Salmon that were making their way into the river. Father and son teamed up to day and both were rewarded with a 32" (81 cm) Salmon.

Another very happy angler reported landing a huge fish this morning. The fish was so big that Nelson couldn't close his fingers around it to hold it. It straightened out a #6 steel hook before being released.

He was fortunate again this evening when he did finally capture a magnificent picture of the smaller of his 2 trophy fish for the day. Well Done Arve!

We say the main lodge is a great place for a jovial review of the days events. Yes, for certain it is. This evening the fire is crackling, drinks are pouring over our signature 10,000 year old iceberg ice, and our guests are having a great review indeed.

So far I've heard, "the pool was full of fish this morning!". And, "It's hard to find a grilse!"

Our guides and guests are seeing a lot of fish, and a lot of nice large salmon. Today our camp hooked 27, of which only two grilse were...

Well, yesterday there were 16 fish hooked in camp.

Almost all anglers had hooked up however briefly.

I heard tales of a fish rising 11 times before he revealed to be a lovely 85 cm specimen. I also heard of a fish rising 5 times and on the sixth pass.....another fish took the fly. Don't ya just hate when that happens!

Fish were seen jumping in most pools in the river.

I have seen some photos that show some spectacular jumps and a nose dive. I will update when I have downloaded.

Over all we have a happy group of anglers!

Our new group of guests start their weeks with success. 6 hookups today. As we anticipated the size of these Salmon are the annual Large run of Salmon. The morning started with rain, but ended with warmer temperatures and bright sunlight. River still dropping.

Many fish reported in pools. One guide reported seeing at least 11 fish in one part of a pool.

They are just not flying? Our guests are not asking when are the fish coming....they now ask where are the fish that are taking the fly coming?

We have heard reports of large fish on the river yesterday during our changeover. 41.5 inches (105 cm). That's over a meter of salmon! Congratulations to that Lucky angler!

Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come!

Our first group of the year just departed camp, and our new guests are settling in.

Fishing wise, this has been a tough week. All other aspects of the week have been great. This has been a great group of guests and we have really enjoyed hosting them. Wish we could say that the salmon treated them as well as we did at the lodge. From reports we have been getting, rivers right from the Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland and north to here have been late. Unusually late. We have been seeing...

A little late, but salmon are starting to hit the Eagle River. Several have been seen and our guest, Brian, hooked into a large salmon in Pratts yesterday. It went over a lip of fast water and slipped away but it was our first hookup of 2015! We hear reports of a fish caught at 'The Gap', 17 miles upriver, and also reports of large salmon in White Bear River. And there must be plenty of them spread across the ocean, as we had a report of turbot fishermen sighting salmon 106 miles north east of Cape Horn.

We expect that over the next couple of weeks the river should see plenty of fresh fish with every rising tide. Bring it on!

We came to the lodge on June 10th this year to a very flooded river. Ice had left Sandwich Bay only about 10 days before that. The river was a raging 5 meters high and discharging an incredible 1400 cubic meters per second of water when we crested The Gorge for the first time in 2015. We had a busy two weeks of more remodeling and maintenance at the lodge as we watched the river level drop. It has dropped 2 meters, and flow reduced to around 400 cubic meters/second. Still plenty of water,...
