The water level shoots up. Bill having success early in his trip. (larger version)
Yesterday was changeover day and for the first time this year we had a minor weather delay with one plane delayed half the day, but all worked out great and everyone is here and been into the fishing action. The last group did well, holding a 3 fish CPUE average in varying conditions throughout their week. Not bad at all! The guys in now are already hooking fish but the actioned seemed to be slowed some yesterday with the rising water, but despite the steep water curve, the action was hot in the rock pile this morning!

The river - she's on a steep rising curve and cold! 15c (59f) yesterday morning when I took the temp. This rise in water level is well known to slow the action. Fish seem to sense that increase in pressure and take advantage of moving towards spawning grounds. We are somewhat surprised that this group are hooking up as well as they did yesterday. It is an indication that there are plenty of fish moving in. Sandbar was noted to be full of fish moving through evening before last. And the comment last night was a lot of fish in William's Run. The river shot up another 20cm over the last 24 hrs. Hopefully the water level plateaus soon. It is nice to see though! A little more water and we would be able to fish back river for the first time this year!

The forecast continues to be absolutely fantastic!! A long range of cool temps from 9c nights to high teens and a couple days breaking 20c. Light showers here and there. It's as if it were ordered by the salmon, guides, and anglers alike!

Pictured here, Bill, into a nice one last evening. And check out that water level curve!
