A Jovial Review...
Posted 06 July 2015, 10:33 pm NDT
We say the main lodge is a great place for a jovial review of the days events. Yes, for certain it is. This evening the fire is crackling, drinks are pouring over our signature 10,000 year old iceberg ice, and our guests are having a great review indeed.
So far I've heard, "the pool was full of fish this morning!". And, "It's hard to find a grilse!"
Our guides and guests are seeing a lot of fish, and a lot of nice large salmon. Today our camp hooked 27, of which only two grilse were retained. You can hear the excitement building day by day, as this group is midway through their stay with us and the fishing just keeps getting better. Yes, the salmon were late this year, but they are arriving true to Eagle fashion.
The river actually rose a few inches today. A welcome change. Even though the water level right now is perfect, we would like to see these little rain falls throughout the season from now on through July and August. It is best for the fish, and for the fishing action. The water is hovering around a nice and cool 60 degrees F. Perfect for these big fish to show off their ferocity, and also perfect for quick recovery and a healthy release.
This picture is of a beauty salmon being handled by our guide, Nelson. Caught by his guest from Norway.
