End of week 2
Posted 10 July 2015, 7:51 am NDT
We are ready to say good-bye to our 2nd group for the year...More like a see you later as they are well known as repeat 'offenders'.
It was a great week with some great large fish action. We have lots of pictures, and of course there is 'the one that got away'. Our Norwegian guests and their guide swear that they lost a fish 30lb+. Nelson tried to tail it and could not get his hand around the tail, it ran and straightened out a #6 hook. We believe it...do you? the last couple of years now we have been treated to some great quality large fish action. It was a slow start, but they came!
Our camp hooked approx 160 fish this week, 110 landed with 12 grilse retained. Large fish ratio was about 85% for the week as nobody even hooked a grilse until the last few days. A great time for those into the big fish!
When the weather clears and the planes fly we welcome another group of repeat guests who I imagine are standing on the float docks in Goose Bay right now, chomping at the bit to fly. They are coming to a prime river. Water temp is a frigid 57-58 degrees, water level is great, and fresh fish are pouring in.
We are also hearing reports from Sandwich Bay that locals taking part in the food fishery are doing well. Many stories of nets not getting fully strung before having to pull them aboard with limits caught! So lots of fish out there to come in yet. Stay tuned, we will keep reporting with results, stories, and pictures. And for a good laugh, check out this video uploaded from yesterday. http://www.prattfallslodge.com/home/16
