The 2012 Season Begins
Posted 30 June 2012, 12:57 am NDT
Our season has started with today's arrival of our first 4 guests. They are already landing salmon in the 12 - 14 lb range (6 kg).
The guides were telling me that while they were waiting for the plane to arrive they were continually seeing salmon jumping as they moved from Separation Point into the mouth of the river.
One experienced trout angler (who landed his first Atlantic Salmon today) very quickly realized that his habit of wrapping his fly line around his fingers is not recommended when Salmon angling.
Water levels have finally started to rise after a day of rain on the plateau. This is very much needed with this years unusually low water levels. The water level now is about 2.5 Ft (.75 M) lower than this time last year.
We are all optimistic that things will change and are very confident that our guests will have another successful season.
