It's been a busy 'off' week the last 5 days. No guests were scheduled so the early part of the week was spent staining the buildings and putting lattice on the foundations.
A quick phone call from 4 travellers touring in Labrador last Thursday led to them arriving on the Eagle only 2 days later, so we didn't end up with an off week after all!
The river is dropping...it's been high for so long now it almost seems reluctant to move but it has dropped approx 3 inches a day for the last 3 days. It didn't have much choice but to drop with the scorching heat we have had. Swimming has been the only reprieve from the heat. Surprisingly the river temp has stayed in the low 60s.
We have been seeing fish and most anglers are having some success in Pratts, and Back River...imagine...fishing back river for the entire season!! That is how high the water levels have sustained.
We had one beginner angler hook and land her first ever salmon today. That's always exciting and she had to come ashore to crack a cold one with her guide to celebrate before dinner!
