Early morning frost cools the river and guests hook up in a big way. Lynn lands her first ever. (larger version)
Where to start with this Eagle River Report! It has been an incredible few days. Things were getting low and warm and I don't think I've ever seen a bunch of people embrace bone chilling temps and rain like everyone did these past couple days. Temps in single digits and frost over night have brought the river to a cold and crisp 56F (13C) this morning and rain on Thursday has shot the river up by over a foot and rising. Both were much needed so nobody complained about being chilled to the bone. Fishing action, hot showers, and cozy wood fires took care of that.

The action - it has been very good. Every boat was hooked up this morning by breakfast including rookie, Lynn, landing her first ever atlantic salmon. There are grilse in the river but still mostly large fish. We've seen several fish in the 15-16lb range, but no real huge fish yet this season. We're expecting with the action this good, this early, most of our early monsters went through before we wet a line. Still very possible to see a 20+ lber yet though.

Pictures here in the collage: Early morning frost burns off with the rising sun. Matt ready to release one of several large fish he has landed the past few days, and Lynn with her first ever grilse, kept for a meal. Great times at Pratt Falls Lodge and we hope it continues!
