Hello 2023 Salmon Angling Season
Posted 27 June 2023, 11:16 pm NDT
Hello all, and welcome back to the 'Eagle River Report' for what we hope will be a great season. We have had a busy preseason here at the lodge. We've been here since June 7th doing some renos and getting things in top shape. It is a different looking year around here. The Eagle had a very low spring run off, and is very low for this time of year. Very low snow pack and a dry spring on the Eagle Plateau are the culprits. It has been holding steady at 2.1m for the last few days though, which is a fantastic level for fishing. We are a little concerned about it being so low so early. Hopefully a few shots of rain and cool temps will prevail during the season to keep things in order.
Coastal pack ice was another small concern. We have been testing the waters for about 10 days now and kept coming up empty. But THE FISH ARE IN! The past two days we have seen a steady increase in sightings and action. The Pratt Falls Lodge family and friends have been into some BIG CHROME! These guys have been fishing Eagle together since 1992, but it never gets old. We are hoping this only gets better for our first guests arriving Thursday the 29th.
We are ready! Ready to host amazing people from all walks of life. Excited to see 'repeat offenders' and new guests alike. We will do nothing but our best to deliver on expectations, and we'll whisper a prayer to the River Gods that the Eagle hold up its end of the bargain as well! Stay tuned folks. Hopefully an action packed season ahead!
