The Ultimate Hat Trick!!!
Posted 23 July 2018, 12:02 pm NDT
Our weather, as always, is constantly changing. We went from highs last week of 33c to an overnight low last night of 14c which required lighting the fireplace and an some wood stoves around camp this morning.
The remnants of last Winters snowfall still in the mountains is keeping water temperatures low. The river level is now at its prime and the whole camp is enjoying excellent fishing.
One of our returning Anglers hooked into a Monster that turned the water in back river white before it headed downriver full boar. The fish didn't even slow down for the max drag on his Hardy reel. It parted the flyline and took off.
Lucky he had another reel and line. He immediately hooked into 2 more Salmon. 3 Salmon back to back!
The Ultimate Hat Trick!!!
Mother Nature then had the final say and enforced the 3 per day rule with a sudden lightning storm which had all Anglers back in the Lodge for the remainder of the evening eagerly awaiting their next round of fishing.
As a side note; the Angler who had the hat trick was fortunate enough to found his fly line tangled in the rocks with the Salmon gone with what must have been an extremely appetizing fly.
