The 2017 fishing season is upon us! We have been here on the river for a few weeks now. Doing work on the lodge, and preparing for what we hope to be a great angling season. We have seen a few fish jumping in the river over the last couple of weeks, and tonight we have our first hookup in one of our high water fishing pools. Guide, Theodore, gets bragging rights on the first fish hooked at Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge in 2017. He came with pictures to prove it. And, after having my ear bent many times by the tall tales of fishermen, I'm a skeptic, so I verified the time and date the photo was taken!!
According to reports from rivers south of here and reports from Rigolet, we should see large salmon runs right on time. The river is still very high, but it is falling and if it continues to fall we will see pools forming up nicely over the next couple of weeks. We are looking forward to our first guests on thursday. The Eagle River Report will go into full swing once we get our guests and guides on the water full time. Have a great season everyone.
