End of the season, for now...

You will notice that we have a bit of a time gap since our last blog entry. Well, that is because there really was not much to report. The rain fall that we experienced on the 5th and 6th led to a week long draught on salmon catching. Just when the action started picking up, the (over) 5ft rise in water was followed by 6 days of not even seeing a salmon. It was the highest water any of us on the river could recollect seeing in August, but on top of the water being high, it was also very dirty. With such a torrential rain fall and no frost in the ground there would have been several mini mud slides on the river banks, and the river was flowing with sticks, leaves, and sediment.
Fish just started taking fly again over the weekend, and on Sunday our last guests hooked fish in backriver. We are clued up now at the lodge for the season, and will be posting a full year in review...but not yet. We plan to fish the river on Labour Day weekend to see if grilse are still running, so we will update then and give our 'year in review'.
We would like to thank all of our guests for staying and fishing with us this year. It truly was a pleasure to host you all! 88% are rebooked for next year, so we look forward to seeing you all again, and we still have some great 2017 dates available, so be sure to check them out, tell some friends, and get in touch with us to book!
