We end the season on a great high note...our youngest guest yet to land a salmon!

Another great day has passed and tomorrow marks the end of another week! This is our last group going out tomorrow. It is kind of a shame as fresh fish are still coming in and we are still hooking up quite well. We have two guests this week that have little to no experience. And both have had a taste of salmon success. It's great stuff! Which brings us to the photo and some huge congratulations to Cody! Cody is 8 years old and is here on a trip with his Dad that we donated to a Ducks Unlimited Canada fundraiser. He landed this beauty fish today. A big thanks to his new friend and fellow guest this week, Graham, who hooked it and passed the rod. The guides and guests said he played it like a pro! Way to go Cody! Cody is sporting a new Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge t-shirt and fly box for doing such an awesome job.
The last few days have been fairly slow but still our top pools have been producing in the morning and evening. We have been seeing quite a few fish but the warm water temps still hinder getting good action. We have some happy anglers leaving camp though, and it's a great way to wind down the season when all hands leaving want to come back :) We aren't going to do a year in review just yet, because we are hoping to get back in late August to test the waters again. We still expect a good few fresh sculls of grilse and some large males. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and show mercy from the hot sun. Trout fishing in the river will soon be getting good as well when the sea-run brookies return to their spawning grounds. Cody also hooked and landed one of those!
The short term forecast looks good and the river did cool a little overnight with rain and lower temps the last couple of days. There are more showers in the forecast as well and the river stopped falling yesterday.
So there will be a little break in reports now while we all unwind and wrap up the loose ends of our season. Look for a report late in August, and then we will give a full year end review.
