11 year old, Helena, with her first ever atlantic salmon! (larger version)
A great end to the week for us here at Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge. The youngest guest we have had and today she hooked and landed her first salmon! 11 years old, and she had her sister and grandmother to share it with. Congratulations, Helena!!

The action picked up for a while today overall. Yesterday was slow in the heat but today there seemed to be a few more fish on the go and they were taking fly much better. Another first time angler, Piet, hooked two fish today! And our experienced anglers done very well.

The river is dropping quite fast now, which is good as we hope to get some time in the bathtub pool again before the end of the season. It has been a high water year. Great for the health of salmon, and great for navigating the river, but as we all know it makes fishing a little tougher when the holding water isn't holding salmon.

We welcome a new group tomorrow. Made up of repeat 'offenders' that we are thrilled to have joining us again, and a duo who purchased their trip to our lodge at a Ducks Unlimited Canada gala event. Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge is proud to have been supporting the efforts of Ducks Unlimited Canada for 4 years now, and we have helped them raise tens of thousands of dollars.

This week certainly shows that we are a great place to plan a family vacation and introduce young anglers to the sport. We thoroughly enjoy teaching them, and enjoy it even more to see the expressions on their faces when that first one strikes.
