New Anglers Have Success
Posted 27 July 2013, 5:20 pm NDT
Although we have low water conditions our anglers are being successful. In the first evening half of our anglers have hooked fish.
One of our young anglers who had his first salmon fishing experience just two years ago has remembered his training and was successful in landing 2 grilse during his first evening of fishing. His Father and Brother were also successful and landed fish.
This afternoon I had the pleasure to witness one of our new group of guests who had never fly fished before land her first grilse. When they finally landed the fish everyone around her cheered and applauded her achievement.
Needless to say that her excitement is almost uncontainable and she is very anxious to get back on the river to feel that thrill of battling these feisty fish again!
I have always said that one of the best parts of this job is to hear the anglers describe in detail the action that they had during the day. I can guarantee you that seeing the battle first hand is more impressive. Even more so, when the guest is new to fly fishing for salmon.
We are still waiting for a sign that the river will rise. If the rain that we were told about is going to make the river rise we should see a slight change tomorrow morning.
