Rising Like Crazy

Well yesterday our guests had a late start bidding farewell to their companions who had other commitments elsewhere. Although most didn't start until after 10 they had a successful day.
I don't think that there was a guest that didn't hook a fish.
I had the opportunity to have a flick with Dwight. We tried a couple of pools further down river but saw nothing.
We moved up into a little faster water and I saw Dwight raise a fish about 12 times before he hooked it. Honestly there was at least 5 consecutive casts that rose a fish. I don't know if it was the same fish or a school but it was crazy.
After a 10 minute fight with a nice little leap we did get the healthy sea green grilse to the side of the boat but with a quick twist of his head he snapped the leader and was gone.
Dwight tied on the same pattern and again he had multiple rises. He quickly changed flies again and boom He had another one on but this one only briefly.
He was back there again this morning and the action was the same. After a short time he landed another gorgeous grilse.
For me one of the best parts of this job is to hear the stories that our guests tell. However; nobody will argue that it is far more exciting to witness it for yourself.
